Cariñosa
-the dance was originated in the Panay Island on the Visayan Island and it was introduced by the Spaniards during their colonization of the Philippine. It is related to some of the Spanish dances like the bolero and Mexican dance that resembles the courtship through the interpretation of the dancers in the process of dancing.
Kapaa Malong -malong
-from Cotabato a muslim dance; this Maranao dance is performed with women wearing malong and shawl, mantle or head piece, where as men wear sash or waist band, shorts or bahag and head gear or turban traditionally worn in the field.
Itik-Itik
- the dance is believed to have originated from the dance Sibay danced to the Dejado music. The Sibay is a bird dance that came from neighboring Visyan Island.
Pandanggo sa Ilaw
- the word pandanggo comes from the Spanish dance ‘ fandango’ characterized with lively steps and clapping while flowing a varging ¾ beat. Pandanggo requires excellent balancing skills to maintain the stability of three tinggoy, or oil lamps placed on head and at the back of each hand. The famous dance of grace
and balance originated from Lubang Island, Mindoro.
Kuratsa
- is believed to be a Mexican import, commonly performed during festivals in Bohol and other Visayan towns, this dance portrays a young playful couple’s attempt to get each other’s attention. It is performed in moderate waltz style.
Maglalatik
-originally performed in Biñan, Laguna as mock-war danca that demonstrates a fight between the Moros and tbe Christian over the prized latik or coconut meat during the Spanish rule,this dance is also shown to pay tribute to the patron saint, San Isidro Labrador. It has a four-part performance, such as the palipasan and the baligatran showing the intense battle, the paseo and escaramusa- the reconciliation. Moro dancers wears red trousers while Christian dancers show up in blue. All dancers are male, with harness of coconut shells attached on their chests, backs, thighs and hips.
Binasuan
-originated in Pangasinan Province. Shows off balancing skills of the dancers. The glasses that dancers gracefully yet, carefully, maneuver are half- filled with oil wine gracefully who whirl and roll on the floor.
Tinikling
- is the national dance of the Philippines, according to the Phiippine Information Agency .The Tinikling is an indigenous dance from the Philippine that involves two people beating, tapping and slidding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who steps over and in between the poles in a dance. The name is reference to a birds locally known as “ tikling”, which can be any of a number of rail species; the term tinikling literally means “ tikling- ilke”
